Annie’s first birthday cake smash!

This family is dear to my heart and has been so supportive during my first year in business. I have been taking pictures of little miss Annie since she was still in her mama’s tummy and it has been so special and fun to see her grow! These pictures are from her milestone first birthday dress up and cake smash with her family (including Alvin, the best pup!).

Miss Annie’s mom had the fun and so cute idea of including balloons in her pictures and they didn’t disappoint. Milestones are a lot of times booked to celebrate first birthdays with smash cakes, but can also be done month by month during babes first year. Or when your kids are older as well and are celebrating pre-k, kinder, 5th or 8th grade! I am now offering cap & gown pictures for these milestones as well which are so fun! I think of them as a huge accomplishment of moment that we want to celebrate and remember - so let’s take pics!

For my full session milestones, I think to include family if wanted. I like to offer 2-3 outfit changes to help show off who they are right now and their personalities - as well as choose a 1-2 locations for pictures. Families can be in the background or a part of all of it - it’s really dependent on their vision. I get a lot of traditional images as well as more documentary styled since a lot of times we’re just playing or moving around with whatever the child is doing - and that is how a lot of these images were captured. These were taken inside as well as the park down the street from their home.

I love to clarify that my sessions with children, especially small children, are led by them. I try my best to get the more posed shots taken in the beginning so that those are done and we can really focus on everyone enjoying it as much as possible. If we need to take a snack break - we do! I am flexible when it comes to the kiddos because I know how it is!

After balloons and the park we ended it with a cake smash party! (and then a nap after, lol!).
